Mrs. Ruth Boles Johnson, age 91 of Tobaccoville passed away Sunday afternoon February 21, 2010 at Village Care of King in King. Mrs. Johnson was born in Stokes County, February 7, 1919 to the late Fred Lee and the late Mary Louise Culler Boles. Mrs. Johnson was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and nannie to numerous children. Ruth enjoyed cooking, working with flowers, and looking after her extended family. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by one daughter Mary Arrowood, four grandchildren and seven brothers. Surviving are her husband of 74 years of marriage; Johnnie Johnson of the home, two daughters; Ann Slate and Kelly (Kevin) Tuttle both of King. Two sons; Johnny Johnson of Tobaccoville and Jimmy (Judy) Johnson of Walkertown. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. One sister; Pluma B. Smith of Winston-Salem. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, February 23, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Rev. Gene Lawson. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday February 24, 2010. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening following the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Western Carolina Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 545 N. Trade Street, Suite 3J, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Village Care of King for all the love and care Mrs. Johnson received during her stay with them.
