Ruth B. Jackson, 85, departed this life on July 10, 2015. Ruth was a native of Winston-Salem, living with her husband, J. Wesley Jackson in the Ardmore neighborhood for almost 50 years. She was the daughter of Joseph Scales and Effie Johnson Boyles. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and attended Draughan's Business College. Her entire professional career was with Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, from which she retired in 1978 as Assistant Vice President, Local Personnel. Aside from her family, Ruth's greatest love was traveling and spending time at the coast. Her dreams came true when she and Wesley bought a duplex in Emerald Isle, where they quickly set up a second residence and where they eventually designed and built a custom home on the same street. Ruth was never happier than when she had friends and family filling her home. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to plan fun things for family and friends to do when they were all together---most of her ideas were great, but some we just shook our heads and tagged along. Only occasionally was it said, ""Well, we don't have to do that again!"". Her love of the coast was evident in her surroundings which she filled with beautiful things that she and Wesley made from their ""finds"". An extensive shell collection and an imaginative mind were all that she needed. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joseph Scales Boyles, Jr. and Kenneth Manly Boyles. She is survived by her husband, James Wesley Jackson of the home, daughter, Cynthia Kay Williams of Raleigh, NC, stepdaughters, Brenda Roberts of Cameron Park, CA and Wanda Marshall of Atwater, CA. She was blessed to have a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and the best friends anyone could ask for to remember her. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALZNC, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC, 27609 (or at www.alznc.org) or to a charity of one's choice.
