Ruth Edwards Hutchins, of Winston-Salem, went to her heavenly home on August 19, 2009. She was born on May 11, 1922 in Black Mountain. She spent her life in Tennessee until moving to Winston-Salem. She was a member of Dean Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, A.F. Edwards; a grandson, Christopher Edwards; a great grandson, Austin Brown; her mother and father, Aletha and Miffen Teague of Tennessee; a sister, Rose Ring of Winston-Salem; a brother, Bob Teague of Charlotte; and son-in-law, Obbie Strickland of Arcadia. Surviving are her husband, Richard D. Hutchins of the home; two daughters, Sharon Strickland Peters of Arcadia, and Jean (Don) Foust of Pinnacle; one son, Roger (Barbara) Edwards of Arcadia; four grandchildren, Deidra Strickland Diachenko of Arcadia, Eddie Strickland of Wallburg, Denise (Darren) Clemensen of Arcadia, Shannon (James) Orange of Mt. Airy; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; three sisters, Mary Martin of Winston-Salem, Ida Mae Contos of Ohio, Thelma Guinn of Mississippi; one brother, Ronald Teague of Texas; two stepdaughters, Peggy (Walt) Henning of Knoxville, TN and Jane Batson of Concord; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Pastor Tim Day officiating.
