Ruth Jean Martin Hurtt passed away on Thursday, June, 24, 2010, at her daughter's home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ruth was born on January 25, 1925 to Walter and Bertha Martin of Lewisville. She married William Cary Hurtt in January 1946. Ruth lived in Lewisville for most of her life and also had a home at Lake Norman that she loved. She moved to Colorado Springs in 2008 to live with her daughter. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife, as well as an active member in her church and community. Ruth was always willing to help others and demonstrated a life of service to her Lord, her family and her many friends. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1943 and worked for R J Reynolds Tobacco Co for 31 years until she retired in 1983. Ruth loved her log cabin at the lake, her flowers and garden and her many crafts and hobbies. She was also a loving and cherished grandmother to her three grandsons. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bill in December 1981, her parents, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Mary H. Nifong of Colorado Springs; her three grandsons, Tyler, Eric and Daniel Nifong; one great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and her son Cary Hurtt of Mooresville. A funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 2, at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, July 1, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
