Ruth Holt

Colfax – Ruth Mellisa Westmoreland Holt, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Guilford County on March 28, 1926, to the late Lindsay Preston “L.P.” and Jenette Westmoreland. Ruth married the love of her life, Allen Holt, on January 14, 1946. She loved to keep a clean home, cooking for her family, and working in the yard. Ruth was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved to tell you stories of herself and could easily make a joke of the outcome. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who was consistently in prayer for them. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen H. Holt; and eight siblings, Hubert Westmoreland, Opal Jordan, Neva Long, Maude Hendrix, Annie Nuckles, Hettie McCollum, Rubert Westmoreland, and Robert Westmoreland.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Steven Holt (Cheryl) of Colfax, and Garland Holt (Anita) of Colfax; five grandchildren, Jesse Holt, Troy Holt (Heather), Brian Holt, Michelle Floyd (Johnny), and Shannon Wallace (Aaron); ten great grandchildren with one on the way; and five great great grandchildren with one on the way.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Chuck Peters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
