Ruth Hedgecock

Kernersville - Mrs. Ruth Wise Hedgecock, 97, of Kernersville, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022.  Ruth was born in Salisbury, NC, on March 13, 1925, to the late Charles F Wise and Maggie Gaskey Wise.  She was first married to Edgar Ashby until his death in 1974.  She married Ralph E Hedgecock in 1977 and they were blessed with many happy years together until his death in September 2020.

Ruth was a loving wife, stepmother, and grandmother, and especially cherished being a grandmother. She was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church and served as a choir member and Sunday School teacher for many years.  Her indomitable spirit was loved by all.

She is also preceded in death by seven siblings and her beloved nephew, Marshall Nance.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Ed Hedgecock (Susan) and Susan Hedgecock Frost (Michael); her grandchildren John Hedgecock, Matthew Hedgecock (Stephanie) and Andrew Hedgecock (Caroline); her niece, Elizabeth Leonard (James); numerous great nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Virginia McNamara (Archie).
