Ruth Joines Hayes

Ruth Joines Hayes, 83 of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Hayes was born February 19, 1926 in Trap Hill, a daughter of the late Guy Joines and the late Vaudie Blackburn Joines. She was retired from McCroy's Department Store and was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church, but attended Waughtown Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Hayes in 2000. She is survived by her sister, Irene Bridges; nieces and nephews, John Bridges and wife Vickie, David Bridges and wife Joan, Ken Bridges and wife Kay, Ruth Bailess and husband Lynn, Marsha Lawson and husband Chris, Linda Williams and husband Charles, Rebecca Hayes, and Elizabeth Hubbard and husband Todd, 2 great nieces; 5 great nephews; 1 great-great nephew; sisters-in-law Janie McKnight and Elva Hayes; and friend, Mickie Chandler. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, February 1, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Joe McWethy officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Thurmond. The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Roaring Gap Baptist Church or Waughtown Baptist Church.
