Ruth Anderson Gwyn

Mrs. Ruth Anderson Gwyn, 93, passed away February 19, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1916 to the late Solomon Edgar and Minnie Trivette Anderson. Mrs. Gwyn was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a degree in public health and was a former Director of Nurses for the Forsyth County Health Department and retired as a TB Control Consultant with the North Carolina State Board of Health. She was preceded in death by a brother Lee Anderson and a sister Blanche Wilson, both of Boone. She is survived by her son, John A. Gwyn of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens in Boone. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of The Horizons unit at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living and the doctors and staff at the J. Paul Stichit Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
