Ruth Anderson Gray

Mrs. Ruth Anderson Gray 88, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, January 6, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Born on June 6, 1924 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Ransom Harrison Anderson and Lillie Shatley Anderson. Ruth was married to Luther ""Wilson"" Gray for 57 wonderful years. She was a founding member of Northwest Baptist Church. Ruth enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and walking with her beloved Wilson. Her creativity was expressed in lovely flower arrangements and ceramics. She retired from RJR after 35 years of service. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Welborn, Rachel Gray; and brothers, Bud Anderson, and E.J. Anderson. Surviving to cherish her memory are a sister, Alene Andrews (Frank); and brothers, Noah Anderson (Cynthia), James Anderson (Louise), Roy Anderson (Pat); sister-in-law, Jean Anderson; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Welborn. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much; including two special nephews, Dale Segraves (Denise), and Rodney Segraves (Diana). Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Brandon Hudson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 407 Petree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
