Mrs. Ruth Layell Goforth, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away on February 23, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Goforth was born in Forsyth County to the late Bramlet and Nora Faw Layell. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1955. She was a member of Immanuel-New Eden Moravian Church where she was the head diner for 30 years. Mrs. Goforth was retired from AT&T with 31 years of service. She loved cooking for her family and friends and she was an avid gardener. Mrs. Goforth was preceded in death by a brother, James Layell; two sisters, Rebecca Layell and Alice Ellis. Surviving Mrs. Goforth are her loving husband of 54 and half years, Mr. Robert ""Bobby"" Goforth; two daughters, Linda Fansler of Winston-Salem and Cindy Trott (Brad) of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Andrew Fansler, Kerri Harville (Stephen) and Kimberly Fansler; two brothers, Ezra Layell (Martha) of Durham and John Layell (Darlene) of Advance; two sisters, Alvia Owens of Advance and Brenda Stitz of Greensboro; one brother-in-law, Charlie Ellis of Advance; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 26, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard. Visitation will be held on Friday February 25, 2011 from 6 until 8 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home.
