Ruth Pollard Doby

Mrs. Ruth Pollard Doby, 91, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

Ruth was born February 12, 1924 in Alleghany County to Charlie and Mallie Pollard. A faithful woman, she loved her church life and enjoyed studying the Bible. She was a longtime member of Jonestown Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with her friends, and above all, she loved her family. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Henry Doby, Sr.; sons, Charlie Grey Doby and Ronald Crosby Doby, and 7 sisters and brothers.

Ruth is survived by her beloved daughters, Vivian Gross and Janet Rose and husband Dale; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, James Pollard and Tom Pollard; sister, Lexi Irene Billings; 2 sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
