Ruth Ann Carter Crater

Mrs. Ruth Ann Carter Crater, 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 6, 1935 in Forsyth County to Ernest and Ruby Saylor Carter. Mrs. Crater was a member of Winston-Salem First, and was retired from Medical Park Hospital. She enjoyed being with her many friends, especially Doris, Marie and Jay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas T. Crater; and a brother, Robert Carter. Surviving are one son, Robert Crater and wife Regina of Mocksville; two grandsons, Larry and Joe; four great granddaughters who affectionately called her ""GG"": Kerri, Brittany, Kaitlyn, and Gracie Jo. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 23 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Mike Rakes and Pastor Don Hawkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff on the 8th floor Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Camp Hope, C/O Winston-Salem First, 3730 University Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
