Ruth Bishop

Mrs. Ruth Allen Bishop, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at her home. She was born August 9, 1930 in Davie County, NC to Marma Kimball Allen and Etta Regina Riddle Allen. Ruth was a faithful member of Clemmons United Methodist Church. She retired from Piedmont Airlines and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools System. Ruth loved greatly and was greatly loved by many. She fiercely loved and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild and each one of them knew they were the best. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bishop and a son, Allen Bishop. Surviving are her children, Martha Perez (Nick), David Bishop (Ann Marie) and Jon Bishop (Kellie); five grandchildren; one great grandchild and three sisters, Elizabeth Neal, Julia Howell and Louise Fulk. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Clemmons United Methodist Church with Rev. Paula Northrup officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oscar L. Bishop Boy Scout Scholarship Fund c/o Clemmons United Methodist Church, 3700 Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012 or to Samaritan Ministries, 414 E. Northwest Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
