Mrs. Ruby Vernon, 95, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Village Care in King, NC. She was born February 9, 1929, in Yadkin County, NC to the late Landon Mendenhall and Rhoda Mathis Mendenhall. Ruby was a long-term member at North Point Baptist Church and is a current member at Calvary Baptist Church in King, NC. Ruby was a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed cooking, and gardening. She was a dedicated Christian with a kind and gentle spirit. II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Hanley Vernon; two sisters; seven brothers, and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Marshall Vernon. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Vernon (Linda); two step grandchildren, Stephanie Glasgow (Chris) and Christopher Tuttle (Angela); three step-great-grandchildren, Emily Glasgow, Amelia Tuttle and Kaydence Tuttle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Village Care for their care that was given to Ruby. A funeral service will be conducted 2pm Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Scott Vernon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
