Mrs. Ruby Gerolene Vanhoy, 78, of Kernersville died Saturday, august 10, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 3, 1935 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late, Cromer Narvin and Emma White Grubbs. Mrs. Vanhoy was a member of Linville Forest Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Griffith High School and worked for a while at M&J Finance Company. She was a 20 year resident of Burlington where she has many friends. She loved music and shopping and had a good sense of humor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Odis Grubbs and Cromer L. Grubbs and one sister, Agnes Fishel. Survivors include her husband, Vance Odell Vanhoy of the home; one daughter, Faith Vanhoy Head of Dallas, TX; one son, Michael Vanhoy Scott of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Kimberly Hawkins Mulligan and husband, Sean of Greensboro and Michael Don Head and Shelby Keith Head of Dallas, TX; two great grandchildren, Dimitri Head of Dallas, TX and Blake Andrew Mulligan of Greensboro; two sisters, Hazel Fishel of Kernersville and Betty Percival and husband, James of Winston-Salem; one sister-in-law, Anita Grubbs of King; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Linville Forest Church of Christ with Minister Kelly Brown and Minister James Percival officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
