Mrs. Ruby Lee Peoples Stevens, 93, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Monday October 17, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Ruby was born to the late Alonzo Lee Peoples and Tallie Irene Lanier Peoples on March 13, 1929, in Davie County, NC.
She spent many years of her life serving the Lord as a devoted Christian, worshiping many years as a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC.
Ruby retired after 15 years of service at Hanes Hosiery. She then enjoyed working at Thalhimers Department Stores for several years. After Thalhimers, Ruby went to work for the American Red cross where she spent 8 years serving her community.
Ruby’s greatest joy was her grandson, Evan, and she was so proud of him. Ruby loved traveling, especially to the beach and on bus trips with her friends. She liked to fish, and in her younger years, enjoyed many family camping trips.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Lee Peoples and Tallie Irene Lanier Peoples; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Peoples and Orene Peoples; sister, Frances Irene Farmer; infant grandson, Daniel Thomas Stevens; and her husband of 59 years, Nick Stevens, Jr.
Her surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Nick Stevens and Stephanie Stevens; and her grandson, Evan Daniel Stevens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clemmons Village 1 Assisted Living for their loving care for Ruby over the last 3 years.
A funeral service will be held for Ruby on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Matthew Allen officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Parklawn Memorial Park.
