Ruby Speaks

Ruby Neal (White) Speaks, (age) 80, of Winston-Salem, NC was called to heaven on November 15, 2008. Ruby was born on August 16, 1928 in Rockingham County, NC and passed away at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard Speaks, husband Billy Ray Neal, her mother and father Betty and James White, brother Carlton White, sister Annie White Pennington and grandson Michael Ray Neal. She is survived son Don Neal and wife Martha, by daughter Barbara Newby and her husband John, son Billy Michael Neal, granddaughter Kimberly Neal Key and husband Randy, grandson Donald Ray Neal Jr. and wife Lauren, grandson Kenneth James Shaffer, granddaughter Linda Kaye Shaffer, grandson John Phillip Newby, numerous great grand children, step daughter Becky Goodman and her husband Bruce, step son Johnny Speaks, step grandsons Brandon and Daniel Speaks and Bryan Goodman. Ruby was an excellent homemaker while also working outside the home. She attended Madison Mayodan High School and was employed by R J Reynolds Tobacco Company for 13 years. She also worked several other jobs. Ruby loved to help with the garden especially helping to give the harvest away. She loved children and played an important role as Ms Santa Claus for many years. The last several months of her life she found great pleasure playing with great grandson Ethan. Ruby loved God, life, family, music, and she loved to laugh. She will be missed by so many. Perhaps she felt Willard was missing debating with her.. The family will receive guests on Sunday November 16, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. There will a graveside service on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Walnut Cove Cemetery in Walnut Cove, NC.
