Ruby Newsom

Winston-Salem- Ruby Hester Newsom, 97 passed away, June 12, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family. Ruby was born in Forsyth county to the late John B Hester and Sally S Hester on August 8, 1922. Ruby was a Christian lady who loved her church, flowers, gardening, cooking, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband Irven Edgar Newsom, parents, and brother. She is survived by her son Tim Newsom (Shelia); a daughter Betty Hemric (Ronnie); grandsons Wesley Sapp (Brittney) and Brian Hemric. In addition, a niece JoAnn Martin (Terry).  She loved her great grandson Ethan and great granddaughter Claire Sapp. The family wishes to express a big “thank you” to Rachael, Sherry, and Kawana for making it possible for Ruby to stay home.

A graveside service will be held, 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
