Ruby Byrd Hord

Mrs. Ruby Byrd Hord, 85, of Kernersville, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. She was born November 5, 1925 in Forsyth County to Richard and Hallie Frazier Byrd. Mrs. Hord was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1979. She had been employed with Western Electric in the accounting department and later became a homemaker for more than 35 years. She was active in the Christian Women's Club, played golf, and enjoyed making the family laugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hord; her son, Ricky Day; and her parents. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Minnix and husband Kenneth of Kernersville, Beth Yancey and husband Al of Lewisville; one son, Chris Hord and wife Eva of Garner; grandchildren, Tracy Jacobs, Ashley Sumner, Marc Minnix, Travis Joyner, and Jennifer Yancey; great grandchildren, Elisa and Olivia Brown, Preston and Caden Joyner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating.
