Mrs. Ruby Lee Sattenfield Holleman slipped away quietly in her sleep to be with The Lord and to be reunited with Her beloved husband John S. Holleman, Sr. on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Waiting there also in that new heavenly home with valentines in their hands were her Mother, Annie Sheets Sattenfield, her Father, Charlie Sattenfield, her Brother Carl Ray Sattenfield, her Sister Francine Sattenfield McMillan Harbin, and her dear Friend Lillie Belle Canada. Ruby grew up in and was a lifetime member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. She never traveled far from the cotton mill village of Arista where she was born, her Mother and Father worked, and where she met the love of her life, who always called her by Ruby Lee. Always trying to have a little girl, Ruby was instead blessed with four healthy boys and finally gave up trying! Those four boys and their spouses are John S. Holleman, Jr. and his wife Margaret, Norman C. Holleman and his wife Lisa, Mark R. Holleman and his wife Cathy, and Stephen Lee Holleman and his wife DeRhonda. Ruby wishes to thank her Son, Steve, whom she always acknowledged as her constant companion and caregiver after her husband passed into eternity. She also never tired of talking about a very special love and bond she had with her Grandson Jeremy. Ruby longed to live long enough to see the birth of another Great Granddaughter and the first child to be born from her Granddaughter April and husband Adam, (the little one was to be her namesake); but alas the Lord had other plans and another boy is due in May. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren remain along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. We all grieve for our loss yet rejoice at Ruby Lee's new arrival! Family and friends visitation will be this Sunday February 12 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem from 6:30- 8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 13 at 2:00 pm at Pine Chapel Moravian Church with Rev. James Demby and Rev. Norwood Green officiating, with burial to follow in God's Acre in Old Salem. Memorials may be made to Pine Chapel Moravian Church's Book of Remembrance, 324 Goldfloss Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
