Ruby Mae Wingard Harriman

Ruby Mae Wingard Harriman, 78, has gone to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 21, 2015 at Trinity Elms in Clemmons, NC. She was born on December 4, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to John Ralph and Mae Earnhardt Wingard. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Ruby grew up in Waxhaw, NC and graduated from Waxhaw High School in 1955. After high school she attended Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree and belonged to ""Who's Who Among Students"". She began her career teaching at Wiley Middle School and later moved to the medical field. She retired in 2003 after 20 years as Medical Office Manager at Salem Chest Specialists, PA.
Ruby was a longtime member of Clemmons Moravian Church. She enjoyed her involvement there as a member of the Board of Trustees, and the Building Committee, as well as making chicken pies and as a Lovefeast diener. She especially found joy in entertaining her grandchildren. She also took great pleasure in watching her beloved Atlanta Braves and Demon Deacons.
Ruby is survived by her son Scott (Janis) Harriman of Knoxville, TN, son Todd (Vonda) Harriman of Lexington, NC and daughter Melanie (James) Bounds of Bristow, VA; her sister Ruth (Bill) Sensenbrenner, brother Ralph Wingard, and brother Earl Wingard, all of Waxhaw, NC, and brother Jim Wingard of Fort Mill, SC; her grandchildren Emily, Andrea and Brantley Harriman, and Josh and Ryan Bounds; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staffs of the Memory Care Unit at Trinity Elms and of Piedmont Home Health.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Clemmons Moravian Church with the Rev. Ray Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
