Winston-Salem – Mrs. Ruby Fulton, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her residence. She was born on July 28, 1932, in Stokes County to Roscoe and Bessie Shelton Bennett. Ruby had been a member of Goodwill Baptist Church since 1964. She loved to sing and was in the Sugar Sticks singing group. Ruby enjoyed sewing and quilting. She also loved canning and cooking big meals for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husbands, Numa Covington and John “Fewell” Fulton; four children, Ronnie Covington and Wayne, Terry, and Kenny Fulton; and twelve siblings.
She is survived by three children, Phil Covington (wife, Kim), Doug Covington (wife, Kathy), and Donna Walker (husband, David); her brother, Roy Bennett; daughter-in-law, Peggy Fulton; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service for Ruby will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Rodney Kirby officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a Hospice organization of the donor’s choosing. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
