Ruby Stanley Cox

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Eagle Stanley Cox, 85, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home surrounded by her family. Ruby was born on September 5, 1928 in Duck, West Virginia to the late Amos and Earsla Friend Eagle. She was a member of Colfax Baptist Church and found great comfort in her stuffed animal companions. Ruby was a huge fan of Chicago Cubs Baseball, Duke University Basketball and Glenn High School Basketball. She loved being around family, especially during the holidays and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Stanley Vulcano (Will) of Charlotte, and Judy Stanley Murdoch (Bob) of Greenville, SC; one son, Marty Stanley (Monika) of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Meghan S. Helms (Chris), Kirby Stanley, Jonathan Elliott, Matthew Elliott and Lynde Carlyle; and three great grandchildren, Chandler, Connor and Callie.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m.Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Trinity Glen Lutheran Home, especially Mrs. Patterson, for their loving care during her time there.
