WALKERTOWN - Ruby Hale Brown, 90, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ruby was born on July 17, 1925 in Fayette County, WV to Thomas Green Hale and Julia Frances Chaney Hale. Ruby was a long-standing member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and worked in the cafeteria for almost 40 years. She was the last of 14 children.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitfield Brown.
Surviving are her son, James Larry Brown (wife, Rhonda Dee) of Brown Summit; her daughter, Joan Brown Davis (husband, Thomas Eugene) of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Evangelist Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank Ruby's special caretakers who have been so wonderful to her and dedicated to her care.
