Ruby Hobson Atkinson

Mrs. Ruby Hobson Atkinson, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home. She was born February 12, 1928 in Yadkin County to Harvey and Hester Mikles Hobson. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Grace Baptist Temple where she was a member of the DMA. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl T. Atkinson, who was a decorated marine and bronze star recipient. Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Thomas (Frank) of Clemmons; two sons, Earl T. Atkinson III of Lewisville, Kelly Atkinson (Gina) of Mocksville; four grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Daniel and Jessica; six great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Charli, Jake, Zander, Weston and Griffin; four sisters, Imogene Groce and Stacy Smitherman of Yadkinville, Helen Atkinson (Ralph) of Winston-Salem and Carol Powell of Yadkinville; and one brother, Archie Hobson (Abby) of Yadkinville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 11 at Grace Baptist Temple with the Rev. Jim Bush and the Rev. Albert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
