Royce James East

KERNERSVILLE - Royce James East, 93, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home. He was born January 5, 1920 in Stokes Co. to the late James and Sallie Norman East. Royce was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a faithful member of the Robert West Sunday School Class and WWII United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed tobacco farming, gardening and selling his produce to many of his loyal customers. Royce was seasonally employed by United Engineering for many years In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi East; two brothers, Joel Albert East and John Franklin East; one sister, Stella Mounce; and two sisters-in-law, Grace East and Dorothy East. Surviving are his sister, JoAnn Williard and husband, John of Oak Ridge; brother, George Graham East of Belews Creek; sister-in-law, Marlene East of Kernersville; brother-in-law, Reuben Mounce of Kernersville; several nieces and nephews; and two very special neighbors, Javier and Wanda Guerrero. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Lyons, Rev. Gary Martin, and Rev. Tommy Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice and Palliative Care staff.
