Roy J. Marion

Mr. Roy J. Marion, 82, of Clemmons passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Marion was born in Surry County on November 19, 1931 to Roscoe Henry and Aute Carico Marion. He was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship and worship. Mr. Marion enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed dancing. Mr. Marion built birdhouses in his spare time and loved to travel. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Anna Noel Irby; and two sisters, Arlene Goins and Callie Mayes. Mr. Marion is survived by his loving wife, Eve Shaw Marion; two sons, David Marion and wife Wendy of Hillsborough, and Kenny Marion and partner Beth Lee of Concord; a daughter, Carolyn Irby and husband Dave of Mt. Airy; three granddaughters, Michelle Irby, Julie Irby, and Hannah Marion; two grandsons, David W. Irby II and Zachary Marion; a great grandson, Jacob Irby; two brothers, Emmett Marion and wife Evelyn, and Curtis Marion and wife Colleen. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, April 7, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Bill Hoyle officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 till 12:00 prior to the noon service at the funeral home.
