Roy Haywood Jennings, Jr, 69, of Winston Salem, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022. He was born in Cambridgeshire, England to Roy and Katherine Milestone Jennings on January 27, 1953. Poppa, as his grandkids affectionately called him, had an “All-in” mentality about his life, his family, his hobbies, and his career. He would start as a novice and quickly become an expert at whatever he set his mind to. He supported his children in all of their endeavors with 100% commitment. He enjoyed a variety of activities including golf, bowling, playing video games and programming. If you knew Roy, there is a very good chance he fixed your computer at some point in the last 30 years. He loved traveling the country and the world with his beautiful wife of 43 and a half years. They visited 43 different states and of the handful of countries they explored, Switzerland was their most favorite. To the very end of his life, he tried to make every person he spoke to feel loved and appreciated. He always tried to live his life to honor his Savior, Jesus Christ. Countless friends and strangers have shared with us all the ways he touched their lives. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, a hero. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Jennings and Richard Jennings; his stepmother, Osie W. Jennings; two step siblings, Aldine Hege, Jr and Rebecca Street. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Jennings; his brother, Alan Jennings (Susan); two stepbrothers, Richard Hege (Josey), Tim Hege (Kathy), Catherine Ittermann (Bob); his three children, Kelley Carnall (Clayton), Dustin Jennings (Emily), Miles Jennings (Carrie) and 10 grandchildren: Emma, Addi, Aron, Owen, Wyatt, Camden, Ryan, Levi, Rhys and Liam. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Beck’s Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Vaughan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beck’s Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. The family wishes to thank the remarkable staff at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their love and care.
