Roy Sidney Ellis, Jr.

Mr. Roy Sidney Ellis, Jr., age 69 of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home. Mr. Ellis was born in Forsyth County, April 14, 1943 to Roy Sidney, Sr. and Alice Virginia Clinard Ellis. Roy was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall and owner and operator of Excel Sign and Lighting. He was actively involved in his church as a pastor to the nursing home ministry and brought many of them to Freedom Baptist Church on the church's bus. He will be greatly missed by all of those that he taught and loved. In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by a great grand-daughter; MacKenzie Grace Killion and a brother; Leon Ellis. Mr. Ellis is survived by his children; Laura Reynolds and Tony Ellis both of Rural Hall. Two grand-daughters: Brittany Ellis and Briana Reynolds. One great grand-daughter; Hailee Killion. Two sisters: Vicky (Don) Motter and Bonnie Ellis. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Ellis will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Freedom Baptist Church by Rev. Jon White. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends Sunday evening January 27th from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
