WINSTON-SALEM - Roy Eugene Carr, 81, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2015 at his home in Winston-Salem, NC. Roy was born in Abingdon, VA on July 2, 1933 to the late Robert L. Carr and Elsie Orfield Carr. He was a faithful member of Parkview Church of God. He proudly served his country in the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandchild, Sawyer. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Birdie M. Carr; children, Mike E. Carr (Ruth), Kitty Frye, Tammy Baker (Ken), Judy Johnson (C.A.), and Donna Carr; brother, James Robert ""JR"" Carr (Yvonne), sisters, Martha ""Tippy"" Thomas (Dewey) and Mildred Inscore (Bobby); grandchildren, Ashley Douglas (Ted), Eric Carr, Joy Adams, Christina Zimmer (Brad), Trey Johnson, James Baker, Anthony Frye II; seven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren, Pam Worrell and Misty Hunter; and four step great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2 pm at Parkview Church of God, 3263 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made to Roy's memorial page at www.hayworth-miller.com.
