Mr. Roy Clarence Brantley, age 79, of Lexington, NC passed away on May 31, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1935 in Madison, FL to William Mac Brantley and Mittie Clyde McCullough Brantley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He operated his own appliance repair business in Winston-Salem for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Albert Brantley. He is survived by his wife, Almeta Wall Brantley of Lexington, NC; a daughter, Tammy Marlowe and husband Steve of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Stephanie Marlowe of Charlotte, NC and Jennifer Knowles of Gulfport, MS; one grandson, Zachary Marlowe of Charlotte, NC; four sisters, Flarrie Richardson of Lee, FL, Floree Williams of Pinetta, FL, Mary Bell of Madison, FL;, Gracie Linton and husband Jimmy of Tallahassee, FL; a half-sister, Dot Carter of Brandenton, FL; sister-in-law, Merline Brantley of Altha, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Welcome with the Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
