On Thursday, January 21, 2021, Ross Durant Wall, loving husband, father of three children and grandfather of eight grandchildren, passed away at the age of 82 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
Ross was born on February 24, 1938, in the Meadows community of Stokes County to the late Percy Gray Wall and Henrie Marshall Wall. He was the youngest of nine children. He attended Walnut Cove High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years of active duty and four years in the reserve.
Ross graduated from Draughon Business College where he later taught Business classes and met his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Owens Wall. Ross and Pat were married December 1, 1962, at Providence Moravian Church. Together they raised two sons, Billy and Scotty, and a daughter, Angie.
Ross retired as General Manager of High Point Chevrolet in 2000. He also enjoyed providing consulting and tax services to family and friends for many years.
Ross enjoyed spending time with his family at his lake house at Badin Lake. He took pride in teaching everyone how to water ski and taking them on long rides on the pontoon boat. His biggest enjoyment was attending events that involved his grandchildren, and he was proud of each one of them and all of their accomplishments. His warm and sometimes mischievous smile was endearing to everyone. He was “Papa” to his family and most friends. He dearly loved his two dogs, Bella and Sandy, who were always at his side, especially at a mealtime.
In addition to his parents, Ross is proceeded in death by his three brothers, James Wall, Gray Wall and Ken Wall, four sisters, Rebecca Wall Hedrick, Lillian Wall Greer, Myrtle Wall Stone and Sallie Wall Spainhour. He is survived by his wife, Pat Wall, son Billy (Chante’) Wall, daughter Angie (Rich) Walsh, son Scott (Amber) Wall, eight grandchildren, Austin (Sara) Wall, Rebecca Wall, Bryan Walsh, Alek Wall, Hunter Wall, Natalie Wall, Megan Walsh and Lauren Wall, a brother, Bud (Frances) Wall, sisters-in-law, Louberta Wall and Joy Wall, brother-in-law, Richard Stone and many very special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Ross will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Brant Hoops officiating.
