Mrs. Rosie Hammonds Standard, 88, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Standard was born on March 3, 1927 in Lumberton, NC, to William Oscar and Cora Chavis Baker. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Sea Land Division with many years of loyal service. Mrs. Standard was a faithful member of Winston-Salem First. She loved reading her Bible, crocheting, and playing board games. But more importantly, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Standard was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie C. Standard and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by three daughters Dale Webster of Calabash, Linda Payne and husband Buck of Winston-Salem, and Pam Tate also of Winston-Salem; one son, Kim Standard of Winston-Salem; seventeen grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister, Avie J. Hege and husband Luther of Walkertown. A funeral service for Mrs. Standard will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Avery Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Derrick L.
