Rose Elaine (Presta) Marini
April 14, 1951- November 15, 2019.
Rose was born in Buenos Aries, Argentina. She and her family moved to Chicago, Illinois and lived there until the early 1980’s and then she, her husband and children moved to King, North Carolina, where she spent the remainder of her years.
She was born to the late Enrico and Mary Presta. She held many titles; mom to her daughter Claudia Marini and son Adrian Marini, wife to her late husband Juan Marini, sister to Monica Hanley, Aunt to Michelle Krogh, Deanna Hanley, Alysha Goodman, Colleen Hanley, Kaitlyn Hanley, Audrianna Hanley, Gracie Hultmark, Allison Krogh, Johnny Krogh and by far her greatest title “Nana” to her late granddaughter Madison “Maddie” Marini.
Rose was the greatest cook, baker, gardener, DIYer, one-of-a kind, super woman. Aside from running her own catering company, she and her husband also had numerous restaurants. Rose had a natural talent when it came to cooking and baking; she could whip up a batch of turnovers from scratch faster than anyone could make a box of brownies.
She was always so committed to helping and being part of her community. Rose was a huge voice in helping to end the stigma surrounding addiction. She was a powerhouse when advocating for change in communities and trying to help those who were struggling.
It is nearly impossible to describe such a remarkable woman. So we have decided to list our top 10 reasons why Rose was loved so much
1. When she loved someone, she loved them deeply.
2. She told you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not.
3. She fluently spoke 3 languages- English, Spanish and Curse words.
4. Everyone wanted her recipes (ok well maybe just Alysha) and lucky for them, she knew them all from memory.
5. She was the person who always knew what to do in every situation that came about.
6. She was the person who could sew, knit, cross-stitch and knock out diamond art prints.
7. She was the person who could paint an entire room, hem pants, water her garden, hang a ceiling fan, cook dinner, bake a cake, and read a book all before 5 pm without breaking a sweat.
8. She was the person who could cook a 12-course meal using just three items in the fridge.
9. She was the person you could show up to her house anytime day or night and the coffee or tea was always fresh and hot.
10. Last but not least, she was hands down, the most selfless person anyone could ever meet, even during her final days.
A floating celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 30 from 2-5 pm at Springfield Friends Meeting, in the Fellowship Hall located at 555 E. Springfield Road, High Point, NC.
Come dressed casual-a pair of blue jeans and t-shirt- (favorite old rock band t-shirt if you have one) and come share stories of Rose over coffee and Italian sweets. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Maddie's Mission, 2247 Wildflower Court, Asheboro, NC, 27205 in memory of Rose.
