Cassidy Winston-Salem - Rose Mary Cassidy of Winston-Salem died peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2009 surrounded by her daughters at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born on March 31, 1921 to the late Marguerite White Mahoney and John William Mahoney in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Mrs. Cassidy was a retired Social Worker. She completed a BA degree at Emmanuel College in Boston and a Masters Degree in Social Work at Boston College School of Social Work. She worked for Catholic Social Services in Boston before moving to New York to raise her family. Mr. & Mrs. Cassidy retired to Valrico Florida where Mrs. Cassidy served as a volunteer at Brandon Hospital for 28 distinguished years. Rose Mary moved to Winston-Salem in 2005 to be closer to family. She remained active and quickly made new friends and joined a bridge group. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge and loved attending her granddaughter's softball games. Rose Mary was the widow of the late Robert E. Cassidy and is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Cassidy of Winston-Salem, Susan Fletcher and husband Michael of Charlotte and two sons, Robert E. Cassidy, Jr. of Sunset Beach Florida and John Cassidy of Tampa, Florida. Rose Mary adored her grand children Michael, Caitlin and Madeline Fletcher of Charlotte, Ariana Cassidy of Humble, Texas, and Christopher Cassidy of New York, New York.
