Rosa Petalas Niforos

Rosa Petalas Niforos, 84, dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Wilmington, NC to the late Gerasimos and Helen Petalas. A longtime resident of Winston-Salem, she was the devoted wife of the late John Alexander Niforos, and loving mother to daughter, Elaine Niforos Tsitouris and husband Andy Tsitouris from Cincinnati, OH, son, Alexander John Niforos and partner Jamey Benson from Winston-Salem. She was the very loving and proud grandmother, Nona, to grandchildren, Dr. Dustin Andrew Tsitouris and wife Courtney Wolf Tsitouris of Cincinnati, OH and Rosanne Victoria Niforos of Washington, DC. She was the loving sister of Aristea Toula Markatos of Wilmington and the late Nause Balafas. She was the former and loving mother-in-law to Athena Niforos Karahalios of Winston-Salem. Rosa was a lifelong member and supporter of the Greek Orthodox Church. She and her husband, John, owned and operated the Triangle Drive-In Restaurant in Stratford Center for many years. She will be sadly missed by her family, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children and cherished friends and neighbors who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 7:00-8:30 PM on Tuesday, April 26th, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with a Trisagion service starting at 7:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Keating Dr., Winston-Salem, on Wednesday, April 27th, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
