Ronald "Sonny" Sale

Ronald Gordon (Sonny) Sale, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ron was born on November 28, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Henry Preston Sale and Hazel Gordon Sale. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Following college, he joined the United States Navy where he served as a Hospital Corpsman. Ron was employed by and retired from Life of Virginia Insurance Company. He was a Mason and a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. Once retired, Ron indulged in his love of golf by becoming an Assistant Golf Pro at Tanglewood Golf Club, reaching teaching status. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Most of all, Ron valued his family. He was a loving father, husband, and son, holding a special place in his heart for his mother, Hazel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Michael Sale and Jeffrey Sale. Surviving family includes his devoted wife of 68 years, Sarah Meadows Sale; three children, Ron Sale (Becky) of Chapel Hill, Tim Sale (Tawana) of Tobaccoville and Greg Sale (Lisa) of Lewisville; seven grandchildren, Katie, Steven, Ian, Emily, Kelly, McKinley and Ashlynn; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Scott Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be private at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
