Ronald “Ronnie” Ray Murphy was a dedicated Husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on June 18,2022 at the age of 67.
He was born to Thomas Flint and Mamie Evelyn Murphy on September 13, 1954, in Danville, VA. He spent his early years in Danville starting a family and establishing his career. Later, he settled in Winston -Salem, NC where he lived for over 30 years. He also lived in N Myrtle beach for a short time in his youth.
He enjoyed his life's work as an elevator service technician with Dover (later Thyssen Krupp Elevator). He could always be relied upon to bring a strong work ethic, sense of humor and willingness to help others each day. One of the most important things in Ronnie’s life were his family and children. He always put them above all else. He was spontaneous and enjoyed bargain hunting, antique collecting, visiting the coast and seeing new places. He made everything an adventure, especially with his children. He was looking forward to his upcoming retirement and planned to spend his time boating and fishing. Ronnie leaves behind his wife, Sandie Murphy of Winston-Salem, NC; his children, Kristen and Brooke Murphy of Danville, VA, and Holly Murphy of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter, Emma Kennedy of Danville,VA; brother, Michael Murphy (Deloris) of Danville, VA. His smile, spirit for adventure, dedication to family and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Robert F. Miller Center at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC.
