Mr. Ronald Wesley Myers of Winston-Salem and Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on April 13, 2022. Ronald was born on March 1, 1943, to Fannie and Rufus Myers but was lovingly raised by his stepfather, Grady J Harper. Ronald served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969 in the 101st Airborne Division and fought in Vietnam. He retired from the Pilot Freight Carriers and went on to work at Vulcan Materials for many years. He had many friends throughout his life because of his kind and compassionate heart. So very many friends have reached out to the family to share stories of the kindness he has shown them. He and his Beaufort buddies spent a lot of time fishing and swapping military stories. He was known to all of them as RW. We, the family, are very grateful to his friend and neighbor, Jim Holston, who graciously helped with so many of his everyday needs. Many thanks to the awesome staff at Carteret Hospital for the love and care they extended to not only Ron but to us. It is so rare to see nursing staff bring flowers and crying with us. They will never be forgotten for their compassion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Leamon Myers, sister, Gaynell Rothrock, and brother, Jackie Harper. Ronald is survived by his stepson, Donald Wilmoth; his sisters, Deborah White (Bobby) and Sherrie Nifong (Darrell); and brother, Mark Harper (Charlona).
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday April 16, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Jon White and Pastor Mark Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on High Point Road. The family would like to invite the public to a visitation from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
