Ronald Andrew Suttles, Sr.

Mr. Ronald Andrew Suttles, Sr., 76, of Winston-Salem, went to celebrate Christmas with Jesus on Thursday, December 25, 2008. He was born January 15, 1932 in Morganton to the late Andrew P. Suttles and Martha Smith Suttles. Mr. Suttles was a driver for McLean Trucking Company for 30 years, whose handle was ""River Rat"" and retired from Carolina Freight Line after 5 years He also attended Christ Wesleyan Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hooker Suttles and a sister, Eileen Deviney and one brother, Clyde Suttles. Surviving are one daughter, Sheila Burnette (Michael) of Winston-Salem; two sons, Christopher Mitchell Suttles of Morganton and Ronald ""Andy"" Andrew Suttles, Jr. (Wendy) of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a special friend, Elizabeth Upton of Shelby and four brothers, Jay. P. Suttles, Oliver Suttles, Thomas Suttles and Kenneth Suttles, all of Morganton. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 29, 2008 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joseph W. Jennings and grandson, Pastor Derrick Suttles officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
