Lewisville- Mr. Ronald Carlton McLean, 78, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his home. He was born June 29, 1931 in Guilford County to the late Prentis Carlton and Pauline Sechrest McLean. Mr. McLean was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and former member at Kernersville Moravian Church. He was a member of the the Moravian Band for over 60 years. He lettered in every sport at Kernersville High School and later received a scholarship to play football at Western Carolina College. Mr. McLean was an Atomic Veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. He then attended Embry-Riddle Airline School in Miami, Florida. Mr. McLean retired from Piedmont/US Airways with 35 years of service. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Mary Stephens McLean. Surviving is his wife, Mary Crouch McLean of the home; son, Stephen Carlton McLean and wife Pamela James McLean of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Beth McLean Brown and husband Allen Brown of Salisbury, NC; four grandchildren, Whitney Taylor Brown and Michael Allen Brown of Salisbury and Jonathan Carlton McLean and Kristin Nicole McLean of Wilmington; also surviving is a God Daughter, Chelsea Elizabeth Dull of Lewisville. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Kernersville Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
