Ronald Jackson Long

Mr. Ronald Jackson Long, 76 of Advance, passed away Sunday morning as others were preparing to go to God's house to worship, Ronnie was called to God's mansion in heaven prepared for him by his savior Jesus Christ. Ronald was born in Cerro Gordo, NC to the late G. Venoy Long and Katherine W. Gannon Long. Mr. Long grew up in the Small Columbus County area then moved to Winston-Salem after High School. Ronald retired after 37 years of service with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired after 20 years of volunteering with Advance Fire Department. Mr. Long loved deer hunting, fresh and saltwater fishing and NASCAR racing. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue H. Long of the home; one daughter, Serisa L. Johnson; one son, David Long and a grandson, Christian Johnson all of Advance and his beloved kitties, Sweetpea and Precious. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Mocks United Methodist Church by Rev. Gary Elrod. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mocks United Methodist Church, P.O.
