Ronald Lee Hester, 76, passed away on May 23, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. 

Ronald was born on August 11, 1947, in Forsyth County to Alonzo and Sarah Hester. Ronald served his country as a Marine with two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Later, he was employed by Hodges Triad Electric for over 20 years. 

Ronald was a HAM radio operator for many years with the call sign KD4IJS. He and Ila, his wife of 36 years, enjoyed riding bicycles in their younger years. Ronald also loved the Christmas season. He was known for his Christmas light displays, even being featured on Google’s Christmas Lights Map.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved fur babies, Sam, Stanlee, Sebrina, Samantha, Sydnee, and Samson. 

Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Ila; son Dahl Tritt, Jr. (Karen); daughter, Tracie Tritt (Chris Cook); and brother, Marty Hester.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1 at Hopewell Moravian Church by Pastor Tom Anders and Pastor Mark Elmore. A burial will immediately follow the service at Hopewell Moravian Church’s God’s Acre. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hopewell Moravian Church, 701 Hopewell Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
