Ronald Van Deventer

ClemmonsMr. Ronald Van Deventer, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Lucille Van Deventer and the son of the late Rev. E. Eugene and Charlotte Van Deventer of Elmira, NY. Ronald was born in Elton, NY and lived many years in Elmira, NY. His trade was laying tile and carpet. He traveled all over the U.S. laying tile in Malls. He was a friend to all and a HERO to his family. Ronald was a faithful member of Grapevine Baptist Church in Lewisville, NC and a faithful witness and servant for Christ. As he was known saying, ""Without Jesus, you have nothing!"" In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Micki Van Deventer; sons, John Van Deventer and Michael Van Deventer and a daughter, Melissa Phillips. Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Lucille; one sister, Joyce Van Deventer; brother, Edwin Van Deventer both of Elmira, NY; two sons, David Van Deventer and wife Christy of Bardstown, KY and Ronnie David Van Deventer of Winston-Salem; five daughters, Bobbie Ruth Welch and husband Brian of Bardstown, KY, Patsy Lyons and husband Kent of Winston-Salem, Marjorie Griner and husband Billy of Elkin, NC; Michele Coalson and husband Tarron of Clemmons, NC, and Denise Canny of Clemmons, NC; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A home going celebration will be held 6:00 PM Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Grapevine Baptist Church, 7869 Grapevine Road in Lewisville, NC with Pastor Ronnie Comer officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank Winston-Salem Hospice and Palliative Care Center for the care Ronald received.
