Ronald Grey Cates

Mr. Ronald Grey Cates went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus, on Thursday evening April 25, 2013. Ron was born in Forsyth County on July 11, 1951 to the late John and Sylvia Caudle Cates. He served our country in the National Guard and was on the reserve for the Winston-Salem Police Department. Ron had never met a stranger and had a heart to help anyone in need. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and cheering on his favorite driver in auto racing. Ron was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was a loving family man that will be surly missed by everyone that had the privilege to meet him. The good Lord definitely took a great man home Thursday evening when he told Ron his work on earth was done. A good verse that sums up Ron's strength in the Lord was 2 Timothy 4:7 ""I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."" Ron is survived by his loving wife Kathy Cates of Rural Hall; son Ronald Grey Cates II of Rural Hall; brother Larry Cates and wife Lois of Germanton; special niece Wendy Cates of Greensboro; and several nieces, nephews, and family members. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bobby Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
