Roma Saunders Romanowsky

Danville- Mrs. Roma Jean Saunders Romanowsky, 82, formerly of Winston-Salem passed away January 7, 2012 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She was born June 5, 1929 in Iredell County to the late John Joseph Saunders and Stella Nancy Heath Saunders. She was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church where she and her husband sang in the choir. In 1951, Mrs. Romanowsky received an R.N degree from Charlotte Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She went on to work as a registered nurse and retired from Knollwood Hall Nursing Home. In addition to her love of music, she enjoyed creative writing and had her limericks published in several magazines. Mrs. Romanowsky is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Anthony Romanowsky; a sister, Joyce Saunders Raymer of Statesville; a son, Peter A. Romanowsky (Barbara) of Baton Rouge, LA; two daughters, Jean Romanowsky Ballard (Mike) of Danville, VA, and Kathy Romanowsky Hyder (William) of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Zachary Romanowsky, Michael (Adrienne), Stephen (Lindsay), and Robert Ballard, and Katie and Suzanne Hyder; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Ezra Ballard. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Peace Haven Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Benfield and the Rev. Jay Whitley officiating. Inurnment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
