Burlington – Mr. Roland Willis Woods, 92, passed away December 31, 2021, at his residence. He was born February 22, 1929, in Davie County to the late Lizzy and Mose Price Wood. Roland served in the U.S. Navy during the WWII Era. He told a little white lie about his age in order to join. Mr. Woods was very proud of his truck driving career with McLean Trucking for over 35 years. He was a lifelong member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church. Roland was a very hard-working man and enjoyed working in his yard and in his woodworking shop. He designed and built the sanctuary doors for Pine Chapel Moravian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, three brothers: Guy, Alvis, and Russell Wood, and one sister, Ruby Hauser.
Surviving are, his loving wife of 68 years, Faye Larimore Woods, two sons, Kyle Woods (Donna), and Paul Woods. Five grandchildren, Lacy Lineberry (James), Phillip Murray, Ashlyn Merritt, Dana Anderson Mazzucca (Christopher), Dawn Anderson (Zane Hartle), three great grandchildren, Micah, Jace, and Jaxson.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. James Demby officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
