Roland Pratt Early, Jr.

Roland Pratt Early Jr Roland (RP) went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Juanita Grace (Richardson) Early, his 3 children, Deborah Lynn Early of Winston Salem, Karen Grace Early Beham of Houston TX and Steve R. Early of Hendersonville, North Carolina. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and wives, Matthew and Haley Beham, Andrea Beham, Danny and Heather Early and Steve R Early and three great grandchildren. He was born in Oxford, NC to Julia Abeline Putnam and Roland Pratt Early Sr. on April 30, 1921. He is preceded in death by his five brothers, Herman R Early, Dr. Joyce V. Early, Floyd F. Early, William H, Early, James H. early, and two sisters Edith C Schmidt, and Grace M Fox. RP was raised in Oxford, North Carolina, Burkeville, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina before settling in Winston Salem. R.P. graduated as class president from Knightdale High School in Raleigh in 1940 and after serving in the Coast Guard during World War II as a Chief Petty Officer, he received a B.S. in Business from the UNC Chapel Hill in 1950. He married Juanita Grace Richardson, the love of his life, in September 1950. He worked as CLU for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. from 1962 to 1982 where won four National Sales Achievement Awards and was elected to the Millionaire's Club seven times. RP was Kiwanis member for over 30 years and was a past president and man of the year of the Winston Salem Life Underwriters Association. He was a faithful servant in many capacities during his 59 year membership in Centenary United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Wednesday June 10 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Music Fund. The Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Centenary United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Jack Yarbrough.
