Roger “Pete” Lee James, 88, a good man who went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 20, 1936 in Forsyth County, the son of Earnest and Beulah VanHoy James. He was a lifelong member of Kerwin Baptist Church and traveled the world as a Troubleshooter for R. J. Reynolds retiring as a supervisor. He loved to paint, fish and was a good and faithful man to his church. Pete served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Devoted to his wife and family; he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Richard P. James and a great grandchild, Caleb Lee James. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Aileen James; three sons, Timothy L. James (Lucretia) of Kernersville, Steven Ray James (Karen) of Walnut Cove and Mark James of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Cory, Steven, Chad, Matthew and Alicia; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister Imogene James; a brother, Edward James and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Hawtree officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12 PM at the church before the service. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
