On Friday, February 21, 2020, Roger Wayne Neundorf, loving husband, and father of four children, went home to be with the Lord, at the age of 87. Roger was born on January 30, 1933, in Homestead, PA to Adolph and Cecelia (Podwika) Neundorf. He graduated Munhall High School in 1950. He was honorably discharged from the Army’s 135th Infantry Regiment Ft. Benning, GA as an Infantry Intelligence and Operations Specialist. After serving in the military, he married Margaret Louise Poland on May 5, 1955, at East Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Washington, PA. He was a manager for Acme Food Markets until the store closure in 1979. He owned and operated a Pepperidge Farm Bread Franchise the rest of his professional career until his retirement in 1998. He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America for 16 years. He had a passion for baseball and would spend many evenings on his computer watching ballgames especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. He coached for decades - from his sons’ teams, to into his late 70s - coaching his grandsons’ teams. Even in his final days he was thinking about baseball. Sherry said that they would go to a ball game soon, and he seemed a little discontent until she indicated that it was ‘her treat’. At that he was satisfied. Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Ann in 1960; and his son, Kenneth in 2019. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Poland) Neundorf; son, Steven Neundorf and wife, Jill; daughter, Sherry Edwards and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Meghan, Brittany, Kyle, Steven II, Jenny, Brandon; 10 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. John K. Poland officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, February 28, 2020 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376, Smithfield NC 27577. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
